NHL 10-Game Update

The view of 'The League' at the first Mile-post:

The top-tier: Ottawa (8-1) Chris Phillips and Anton Volchenkov remain a shutdown force on the Ottawa Senators blue line. Minnesota (7-1-2) the next five games should be a favorable stretch and we could see the Wild atop the top-tier at the next mile-post. Carolina (6-1-3) is in just above the bar, but needs to get some separation if they want to stay. The next three games should provide that for them.

In the mix: Detroit (7-2-1) winners of their last three but now go on the road for 3 of their next 4 for a chance to put some space between themselves and Columbus. Boston (6-3) trying to become a member of the New England sports domination club (Pats, BC football, R'Sox) will be difficult as 3 of their next 4 games are with Philly, and two with League Leader Ottawa, the Bruins could find themselves back in the mire, as well as out of the Boston spotlight.

The Mire: Kings, Flames, Blue Jackets, Blues, BHawks, NYI, Lightning

The Muck: Stars, Oilers, Canucks, Leafs, Canadians, Penguins

If you aren't on the list already, hopefully they play football in your city.
