A third period goal with less than 5 minutes remaining gave the Penguins the crucial game 3 victory that gives them well, life first of all, and second a little momentum going into game 4 which also is a must win. The Pens are trying to defy the odds of coming back from an 0-2 deficit where it has been well documented that in the NHL that less than 3% come back to win a series. The series is shaping up fine depending on if your shades are red or black/gold. The reds know that odds are on their side, Osgood is coming off a bad game where he normally stops at least 2 of the Pens 4 goals and is highly unlikely to have consecutive bad games, and in the last two series after dropping game 3 they came back to punish in game 4. Lastly, any wins over the next 2 games pretty much end the series. On the flip side, you know a championship series doesn’t start until the home team loses or a game 7 so win this next game and ALL of the pressure shifts back to the Wings. Furthermore your right in this series and Sid ‘the kid’ hasn’t gotten off yet, you gotta believe he will have his day and it will be in a big way. Lastly, Detroit looked really winded in the final 9 minutes of game 3, perhaps a long playoff is starting to rear its ugly head. Regardless of what shade you’re looking through what does come through clearly is that other than game 7 this is the most important game of the Stanley Cup Finals.
